In this week’s blog post I’m giving you an overview of the essential productivity tools & items I use daily for better focus & momentum.
It can be hard sometimes to keep our concentration & motivation going after long days of working from home and having our workspace coincide with our home space.
I have therefore made this list of everything I use on a daily basis to inspire you to keep being productive.
This list is regularly changing, depending on my evolving work style and location.
I started working from home at the beginning of 2020 and I plan on working remotely from a tropical destination somewhere when it’s safe to do so. I’m a huge advocate of changing my surroundings and although I’m not currently travelling, I’m making use of all the rooms in my house to switch up the scenery.
I’m not someone who can sit in the same spot for 8-hours a day so you will always find me hopping from one room to the next. Sometimes I’m in the office, sometimes I work from my bed, other times on the sofa. It really just depends on how I am feeling on a particular day.
I also find that switching up my workspace keeps me more motivated and focused.
For this reason, I make sure that all the productivity tools I use are light and portable or easy to find when I’m moving from room to room. They also need to be able to fit into a backpack if I venture to a coffee shop (or abroad).
6 Items That Keep Me Productive Daily
*Excluding my laptop
If you asked me last year what my number one essential productivity tool was then I would have most definitely have said a daily planner. Daily planners are great for time blocking and scheduling in your to-dos. However, over the past couple of months, I have found that a notebook is best suited for my work style.
Because I work for myself, I have the liberty of only working when I want to work and when I feel most productive. I, therefore, realised that I needed more flexibility than a daily planner could give me just in case my day was to suddenly change. Enter the notebook.
My notebook is full of daily to-do lists and notes which I cross off, with great happiness, once it’s done. I’m not tied down to a schedule and I can freely cross off tasks and move them to the next day if I need to.
Find out the 6 reasons why you need to start planning your day the night before here.
To-do lists have been part of my life for a very long time and I still don’t understand people who don’t make regular to-do lists. Like, how do they get through the day?
My preferred to-do list method is the 1 3 5 rule which I have spoken about before here. It is a great way to manage your tasks into sizeable chunks and seriously decreases the overwhelm.
I start every single morning with lemon water. Now you might be thinking how does that help with productivity? And let me tell you that to be productive, you need to stay hydrated! I add lemon because it has endless health benefits and tastes great!
Desk Near A Window
I mentioned earlier that I don’t always work in my home office however I do always make sure I am near a window when I’m working. Luckily for me my bed and sofa are right next to the window! Great for a burst of fresh air to rejuvenate the mind & body as well as for people watching when I want to procrastinate without mindlessly scrolling.
Space To Stretch
This probably doesn’t count as an item but having the space to stretch in between zoom calls or during breaks is my top wellness tip.
Sitting down all day is doing nothing for our posture so make sure you stretch at least twice a day to help keep your body moving and getting the blood pumping.
And wiggle those toes!
Working from home can bring about some unwanted distractions like lawnmowers, kids screaming in the street or neighbours having an argument.
I’m therefore never without my trusted set of AirPods so I can drown out the outside noise and enter my zone of genius.

6 Productivity Apps I Use Daily
Another reason why it was so easy for me to give up my daily planner – iOS Calendar. I can now keep track of my month via this app, schedule in calls, track to-do’s and block out time in the day!
The notes app on iOS is so underrated. I use the notes app for quick memos or caption writing when I’m out and about. I also love how it instantly syncs across all my devices!
Notion is by far my favourite organisation app ever! I’ve used Trello and Airtable in the past but they just don’t come close. Notion is a place for everything – notes, tasks, goal tracking, content planning, caption writing, meal plans, travel plans, to-do lists, reading lists and so much more!!!
Although I write my daily tasks in my notebook, I use Notion for practically everything else including tracking my quarterly goals, planning my content and product launches plus keeping track of project timelines. You can even make your Notion workspaces look super cute with colourful icons, highlighted text, pictures and banners.
This is a chrome extension app that I have just discovered and it’s perfect if, like me, you are a resident procrastinator.
Pause helps stop mindless browsing by blocking any social web pages you are about to open (i.e. Youtube) and asking you to pause for a few seconds. In that moment you can choose to continue to said social webpage or escape to freedom and stop your mind from wandering. Pretty neat huh.

Momentum is another chrome extension for your browser and changes the boring ‘new tab window’ to a stunning landscape picture with the current time and a daily mantra to give you that momentum to get you through the day.
Fabulous is one of the best apps there is for helping you create healthy routines and building lasting habits. I use this app to keep my well-being in check! They also have a super valuable Instagram account which I follow for daily inspiration and motivation.
And there you go! I think that is enough to keep you going for a while. I would love to know what your essential productivity item is! Drop me a comment below or send me a private message here.
Until next week,
