How To Manifest Your Dream Job (Yes, Really)

TL;DR: If you wanna manifest your dream job, you’ve gotta put in the work. Otherwise, it’s just a cute idea. This all comes down to getting clear on what matters, playing to your strengths, building a vision that fits your life, setting realistic goals and actually taking action. This post breaks it all down, step by step.

Manifestation has officially entered the corporate chat.

Suddenly, everyone’s “manifesting their dream role” on TikTok, as if all it takes is sticking an affirmation card onto the mirror and lighting a candle, is enough to make it happen.

But let’s be honest: that’s not how any of this works.

Sure, visualisation is great. So is believing in yourself. But you also need direction, clarity, and a strategy. You need to do the inner work and the actual work.

Because you can’t manifest your dream job if you don’t know what it even looks like, or if you’re too burnt out to take action.

So if you’re tired of the woo-woo advice and ready to actually make it happen, this is for you.

How to manifest your dream job

Just so we’re clear…

Manifesting your dream job isn’t about landing one with a fancy title or a six-figure salary (unless that actually matters to you). It’s about finding work that fits your values, supports your lifestyle, and lets you show up as your best self without burning out.

Your dream job is one where you feel energised, not running on empty.

Where you’re challenged in the right ways, not overwhelmed.

Where you get to grow, be seen, and do work that actually means something to you.

That’s what we’re aiming for here.

And no, you don’t need to wait for a full moon to start. Just a bit of clarity, a few aligned steps, and the belief that you’re allowed to want more.

Here’s how to get started.

I encourage you to save this post so you can come back to it whenever you need to.

1 | Align with your core values

This isn’t about landing any old job that sounds impressive or comes with a shiny salary and perks you don’t even care about.

It’s about finding a job that actually feels good—one that aligns with what you deeply care about. Because if the work you’re doing doesn’t reflect your values, it will always feel like a grind. (Hello, burnout.)

Core values are the things that matter most to you. They guide your decisions, shape your priorities, and help you figure out what kind of life and career you want. For example, if you’re driven by creativity, then doing repetitive admin work all day long is going to suck the life out of you. You need space to experiment, make things, and think outside the box.

Or if you’re driven by leadership, you need a job that allows you to get visible, speak up, and run with your ideas.

When your work vibes with your values, it gives you direction, clarity, and energy. You stop chasing roles that look good on paper and start building a career that feels right for you.

Hot tip: If you haven’t done this exercise with me yet, I 100% suggest doing it now and following along with this step-by-step breakdown.

Action steps

  • Reflect on your most rewarding, satisfying and fulfilling moments
  • Identify the values that were present within these moments and write them down
  • Continue to add to your list until you have 10-15 values that all resonate with you
  • Narrow down your master list to just 5 core values
  • Use this workbook to help you apply your values IRL to bridge the gap

2 | Find ‘the thing’ that gets you out of bed in the morning

Also known as finding your Ikigai.

This is what inspires you to jump out of bed every morning, ready to face each day. It’s about living a life that feels deeply satisfying and authentic.

Ikigai might be an ancient Japanese philosophy but it’s still a powerful framework to use today to figure out what truly drives you. It involves identifying the sweet spot between four key areas:

  • What you love: Your passion and mission
  • What you’re good at: Your skills and profession
  • What the world needs: Your mission and vocation
  • What you can be paid for: Your profession and vocation

When these four areas align, you’ve essentially unlocked your personal blueprint for your dream job.

Sounds pretty cool, huh?

Hot tip: Head to this blog post for the full no-BS guide on how to find your Ikigai.

Action Steps

  • Make a list of everything that brings you joy
  • Reflect on your strengths, talents, and the things you’re naturally great at
  • Explore how your skills and passions meet a need in the world. What problems can you solve or what value can you bring?
  • Reflect on the overlap between what you love, what you’re good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for
  • Look into jobs, roles, or projects that align with your unique combination of passions, skills, and purpose

3 | Create a dream job vision board

Once you’ve reconnected with who you really are (step 1) and figured out the kind of work that energises you (step 2), it’s time to get clear on where you’re actually headed.

Because let’s be honest, most people know what they don’t want (long hours, a toxic boss, pointless meetings, etc), but when it comes to what they do want? They have zero idea.

This is where visualisation comes in.

Creating a vision for your dream job means painting a clear picture of the career and lifestyle you actually want. One that aligns with your values, plays to your strengths, and feels like something you’re excited to wake up for.

When you know what you’re aiming for, you’ll start spotting opportunities, making decisions faster, and taking steps that actually move you forward.

So go all in on your future self.

Write her a letter. Describe her life, her work, her energy, how she spends her mornings. Then turn that into something visual—a reminder of where you’re going and why.

It could be a vision board, a Pinterest mood board, a mind map in your journal… whatever gets you motivated.

And no, this isn’t about “manifesting” your dream job and then waiting for it to magically show up. Your vision is the starting point for taking aligned, intentional action which we’ll get to in the next step.

Action Steps

  • Choose one word to capture how you want your dream job to feel (e.g. creative, meaningful, fulfilling)
  • Break that word down into what it actually looks like in real life
  • Use a mind map to brainstorm ideas and themes
  • Create a visual collage that reflects your vision
  • Keep it somewhere you’ll see it regularly

4 | Break down your vision into achievable goals

Once you’ve got a clear picture of what your dream job looks like (step 3), the next step is to break that vision down into something you can actually work towards.

Otherwise, it’s just a cute idea.

This is where your vision starts turning into a strategy.

You’re not just saying, “I want a more fulfilling job.” You’re mapping out exactly how you’re going to make it happen, step by step.

Start by setting 1–3 manageable goals based on what you uncovered in steps 1 and 2: your core values and your Ikigai. Then break them down into small, consistent actions.

When your goals are clear and doable, it’s so much easier to stick with them (even when you’re not in the mood).

Plus, by turning your vision into tangible goals, your manifestation practice will feel less like wishful thinking and more like something you can actually pull off.

Action Steps

  • Reflect on your vision board (step 3), Ikigai (step 2), and values (step 1)
  • Set 1-3 career goals that are genuinely aligned with what matters to you
  • For each goal, ask: “How does this support the kind of life I actually want?”
  • If it doesn’t? Tweak it.
  • Break each goal down into smaller, manageable actions you can spread across your week or month

5 | Take action, every single day (aka the most important step)

Let’s be honest, it’s not enough to lie in your bed, manifesting your dream job in the hope that it will just fall into your lap.

No one is coming to hand it to you.

Not even the universe. (A very unpopular opinion in the manifestation space, but someone has to say it.)

The universe has been around for billions of years (maybe even longer), and it’s not rearranging itself just for you. And honestly? It shouldn’t have to. Because you’re the one in charge here.

You’re the one who’s going to make this happen. You’re the one who has to show up.

Manifestation isn’t magic, it’s momentum. And momentum comes from consistent action, even on the days you can’t be bothered.

So if you want to find your dream job, don’t wait. Start working towards it now.

Action Steps

  • Figure out what changes you need to make
  • Break these goals down into simple, doable steps
  • Take aligned action every single day, no matter how small
  • Build habits that support the version of you you’re becoming
  • Celebrate every little win (they add up, promise)
Infographic titled "How to Manifest Your Dream Job (Yes, Really). It outlines five steps: 1) Align with your core values, 2) Find 'the thing' that gets you out of bed in the morning, 3) Create a dream job vision board, 4) Break down your vision into achievable goals, and 5) Take action every single day (aka the most important step). The design features playful illustrations including a woman watering flowers, a colourful brain-tree, blooming lightbulbs, and soft floral accents.

Final thoughts

Manifestation without action is just daydreaming.

You can sit on your bed all day long visualising your dream job, but unless you get up, find clarity, and start taking action, nothing’s going to change.

The real version of manifestation isn’t about trusting the universe—it’s about trusting yourself. Your energy. Your values. Your goals. And most importantly, your ability to take action even when it’s hard, scary, or messy.

You don’t need a lucky girl mantra. You need a plan.

So if you’re serious about creating a career that actually lights you up, come back to this framework whenever you feel lost, stuck, or tempted to put all your faith in the algorithm.

You’ve got this. You always have.
